a surprisingly good synopsis of that remarkable weekend |
Having got used to rather disappointing "chuck it together quick and get it on the shelves" videos of sporting occasions (Arsenal season highlights, and the Ryder Cup 97 spring immediately to mind), I was pleasantly surprised by this latest effort. Despite the rather droning American voice on the commentary - oh for Peter Alliss - the coverage of the matches, the crucial moments, and the final stunning start to the singles by Europe, were all well edited. There was a real sense of tension throughout, the stats kept pace with the evolution of the games so you always knew where the key points were, and the climax was given plenty of time to develop, especially that thrilling match between Price and Mickelson. I also smiled wrily at the soundbite of Tiger Woods - is it me or was he only mouthing a platitude that he really didnt seem to take to heart when he spoke of the pride of playing in a team for once? The only downside to the tape was the long drawn-out piece on the golfers wives and their lunch date together. While Mrs Torrance was an engaging, articulate figure, the rest was only fit for the fast-forward button. Seen one American blonde golfing wife, seen em all!

Relive The Ryder Cup |
A fantastic video that relives the whole of the 2002 Ryder Cup. Selected players give thier views about playing in the event and there is also parts that focus in on the wifes and partners of the players. You also get to see some of the up and comming talent in the Junior Ryder Cup and how security had to be planned to avoid events like those that caused the Cup to be delayed. The video displays some of those remarkable shots that won the Ryder Cup and the captains views are also given. This is essential viewing as you can watch the winning putt roll in as many times as you like.

Excellent program; easy to follow instructions. |
This book contains the essential elements of an easy-to-follow how-to book. The authors explain the why, what and how clearly; and the use of pictures is most helpful. The authors are highly credible (orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists). I am 50 years old and a 16 handicapper who plays three or four times a month. The last 3 or 4 years, I had been experiencing lower back pain while playing and I had lost some distance from my game (ie - drives were traveling 210-220 rather than 240-250). A physical therapist started me on this books regimine five months ago. So far, the results are improved flexibility, better strength, no more back pain and some improved distance in shot length. The daily routine takes 30 minutes or less. I will continue to follow its program and look forward to more improvement.
