Getting Out of the Rough

How to Escape from and get out of the Rough

Your best round, 3 holes to go and suddenly your in the rough off the fairway, it’s heavy rough come to that, 7 shots later your best ever round has just been ruined.

You could have played out with a pitching wedge, why didn’t you?

Although you may lose distance you can escape rough and indeed heavy rough by using you pitching wedge club to get you out and back on track or at least the fairway or green in one shot thereby reducing the number of shots dropped.

You alone can decide how far the shot may go, this can depend on thickness of the rough and you may have to open the club face accordingly or alter the stance and position again depending on ball position.
